Sustainable Healthcare Solutions for Africa, committed to bridging the gap in maternal and neonatal care across the continent.
Ethiopia has made significant progress over the past two decades in improving maternal, newborn, and child health outcomes. However, maternal mortality, neonatal mortality, preventable childhood illnesses, and unmet need for family planning remain major public health challenges, particularly in referral hospitals that serve large rural and vulnerable populations.
Tertiary hospitals play a critical role not only in providing specialized care for complicated cases but also in serving as centers of excellence for training, research, and clinical leadership. The Addis Ababa region continues to face persistent challenges in maternal and neonatal survival, adolescent pregnancy, preterm birth complications, and gaps in postpartum family planning uptake.
SHS Africa was established to address these gaps through a strategic, partnership-driven model that puts local capacity and sustainability at its core.
A continent where every mother, newborn, and child has access to quality, equitable, and sustainable healthcare, supported by strong institutions, skilled professionals, and evidence-based practices.
To strengthen Maternal, Newborn, Child Health and Family Planning services in African tertiary hospitals through capacity building, infrastructure improvement, research, and integrated family planning services.
Our collaboration with partner hospitals is formalized through Memoranda of Understanding and focuses on four interlinked pillars.
These principles drive every decision we make and every partnership we build.
Building local capacity to ensure lasting, independent impact beyond our interventions.
Collaborating with local institutions as equal partners, respecting expertise and ownership.
Delivering world-class standards of clinical training and healthcare infrastructure.
Centering every decision on the wellbeing of mothers, newborns, and their families.
Using research, data, and best practices to guide every program and intervention.
Ensuring healthcare access for vulnerable and underserved communities across the region.
